COS & FRIEZE ART FAIR 2011 BY SIMON ELEPHANT
In celebration of Frieze's Frame initiave, the Swedish masters of
elegant yet minimal high street fashion have commissioned a new short
film. Frame at Frieze Art Fair
is solely focused on young solo artist presentations and, since its
inception in 2009, it has shown emerging world wide creatives, none of
who has been a practising artist for more than six years.
Enlisting talented French Director Simon Elephant to create a mood film reflecting the brand’s aesthetic, the simple and lo-fi production fits comfortably with COS’ sleek and minimal image. As a brand dedicated to art and design, the film acts as a creative art piece which is both accessible and engaging to art lovers and customers alike, whilst promoting the relationship between COS and Frame and the artists.

Antoine Asseraf
Masked blogger of Foodgeek fame, first wave digital artist for mediartspace, advertising art director at BETC EuroRSCG, fashion film festival producer and curator for ASVOFF and the Hyères Festival, digital film-maker before digital film-making, Cornell, Sciences-Po and Central Saint-Martins’ graduate Antoine Asseraf is a Paris-based creative director and film-maker who works in advertising and fashion.
Rene Habermacher
As an illustrator, he designed sleeves for Basement Jaxx, put Natalia Vodianova on the cover of Numéro Paris, and imagined Kate Moss as the Night Porter. As a photographer, he worked with the likes of Naomi Campbell, Kristen McMenamy, Natacha V, Daphne Guinness, Rossy de Palma, Pat McGrath, Maggie Cheung, Alber Elbaz, and worked for Chaumet, Bvlgari, Dior, and Shu Uemura. His work has been the object of exhibitions in Berlin, Tokyo, Miami, Hyères and Milano.
Simon Eléphant is a Parisian based film director.
After assisting internationally renowned photographers Richard Avedon, Peter Lindberg or Michael Thompson - to name a few - Simon launches himself independently as a portrait photographer (Cahiers du Cinema) and fashion photographer (Citizen K, Hanatsubaki, Crash), yet also campaign ads for clients Pepsi Light, Chesterfield...
Though passionate about cinematography, Simon decides to switch lens and focus his career as a film director. His instant talent not only leads him into directing music videos, but also documentaries, and a short film « Deux Fois par Semaine » (Twice a Week), selected by festivals numerous times.
Today, Simon’s ability as a director guides him back into the field of fashion and beauty, acquiring collaborations with top labels such as Dior, Nike, Jean Paul Gaultier; COS and, for the past 2 years, a close relationship with brand Maison Martin Margiela for whom he directed its last video fashion shows.
